Many times it has occurred to me that organized religions are simply institutionalized philosophies for those who are too busy to study and ponder life for themselves. So it should not be too surprising to realize how little information religious people have and understand about other religious beliefs outside of their own chosen faith.

With few exceptions, the world's religions fall into two categories. The Western Abrahamic religions -- Judaism, Christianity and Islam -- are monotheistic in their view of a single Divine Being ruling over His Creation from a distance -- remote and separated. The Eastern religions -- Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, Sikhism and Jainism -- view God as an everywhere equally present magnetic force field of conscious Awareness that expresses Itself in all physical forms.

We'll discuss the implications of these two great viewpoints in our next audio podcast, including the role of the soul or Atman in the salvation promised by monotheism versus the enlightenment of monism. Please join us for our next Mystery School podcast: "East Meets West - Comparing Monism & Monotheism."
