You Are What You Care About

Hello AWMS subscriber : One of my favorite lessons to teach my students and clients begins with the remark, "You are not what you think of yourself. You are what you care about, and that you care at all." It's a provocative statement, which begs for an explanation. Our entire experience in school is limited to using our thoughts to understand. Yet there is much about ourselves that can only be discovered by allowing our emotional feelings to have their way with us. I don't mean thinking about our feelings, for that's a completely futile effort. Rather, to learn to discern the meaning and significance of our feelings by developing our intuition. On this week's radio show and podcast, I'll discuss emotional intelligence, and particularly, the personal identity bound up in how we feel and what we care about.
The Ageless Wisdom Mystery School program is heard every Tuesday at 1:00 PM Pacific on KPFK-90.7 FM for all of Southern California.
