Hello AWMS subscriber :
You've likely heard by now that legendary L.A. rock radio DJ, Jim Ladd, died a few days ago. One of the few radio people to be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Jim was as admired by rock stars as by his fans.
A West Coast pioneer of album-oriented rock radio, Jim was the top ratings grabber wherever he worked — from KNAC-FM in Long Beach to KLOS-FM, KMET-FM, KEDG-FM, and KLSX-FM, plus a long stint at SiriusXM.
Tune in to KPFK-90.7-FM (www.KPFK.org) on Friday, December 22 at 12-noon PST as host Maggie LePique and Doors guitarist Robby Kreiger celebrate Jim's massive contribution to rock 'n' roll. Jackson Browne and I have also been invited, plus Maggie has promised to open the phones to listeners — that's you!
KPFK-90.7 FM is in its year-end fund drive, so please consider donating a few of your hard-earned bucks to support L.A.'s last truly free-form radio station — powered by the people.
I know Jim would appreciate it. Talk to you tomorrow at noon on KPFK-90.7 FM, streaming on www.KPFK.org.
Namaste, Aloha, and Salam,
— Michael
