After watching the new Netflix film, "Don't Look Up," I began to think about "psychic numbing" — feeling indifferent to the suffering of large numbers of people. Although humans commonly feel compassion for individuals and small groups who suffer, they typically become emotionally numb and apathetic when large populations suffer or die.

COVID, global warming, and the lunacy of the Trump Administration are three current examples of the denial and oblivion people manifest as human suffering swells.

Awareness, particular emotional awareness, is the cure for psychic numbing — our topic in this week's Mystery School Show on KPFK-90.7 FM.
