According to a recent American Psychological Association (APA) survey, more than 34% of American adults report feeling that stress completely overwhelms them on most days. 80% experience stress and frustration at least once per week.
Chronic stress leads to depression, panic attacks, forgetfulness, and a host of physical and mental health disorders like eating and sleeping disorders, immune suppression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), attention deficit disorder (ADD), social anxiety disorder, and a wide variety of phobias and fears.
The good news is there are educational alternatives to drugs and psychotherapy. Mindfulness practices expand and enhance awareness, making it much easier to recognize the early warning signals and make better choices about responding.
